Before a fight I… : Get a pedicure, watch some K-1 fights, and stock the fridge with a ton of beer and ice cream for the day after.
Why do you fight?: Fighting is like the ultimate test of toughness. Stepping into the ring in front of hundreds of people and standing across from someone who wants to take your head off is the scariest thing I’ve ever done. However, the high you get from winning is THE best drug. Also being the smallest fighter in the gym I get beat up a lot, so its nice to show the guys how I do against chicks my size.
Most memorable experience in the ring: The first time I heard the crowd chanting “Angie, Angie, Angie.” It was between the 1st and 2nd round of my first ‘Friday Night Fight’ bout. I completely zoned out, thinking “They love me! They really love me!” I also missed everything Brandon was telling me to do, and got my ass kicked in the 2nd round! Lesson learned: don’t zone out in a fight, even if it’s between rounds.
What makes Friday Night Fights different from other events you’ve seen?: Friday Night Fights always showcases exciting matchups. They focus on entertaining the audience as well as showing great fights. I feel confident inviting friends and family who don’t follow Muay Thai, because I know they’re going to have a great time.
